In 2011, Dr. Sirajul Islam Medical College (SIMC) was established and it is one of the prestigious private medical colleges providing MBBS in Bangladesh. The college is situated in Moghbazar, Dhaka. The college is affiliated with Dhaka University.
Students must complete a one-year internship after the completion of the 5-year Medical program. Along with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, the college is recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental council and NMC too.
The aim of Dr. Sirajul Islam Medical College is to create quality doctors with high dedication and morale. The college is situated in the heart of Dhaka city. It has a 12 storied modern academic building along with a 500 bedded hospital.
Graduates from this college can work in any country of the world after qualifying for the screening test of that respective country.

Objective is to provide appropriate learning environment where medical students will acquire sound theoretical and practical knowledge, to conduct research in the field of medicine and to raise the standard of medical education in the country.
An academic calendar is provided to every student to help him/her understand the schedule for the whole year. Every student is also assigned to a particular member of the faculty for guidance regarding individual problems.
Dr. Sirajul Islam Medical College was established in 2011 and the college received instructions for student admission. The instruction started from 2011 to 2012 academic year. Academic classes begin on 17 January 2012, which is celebrated as “SIMC DAY”.
The college is located in Maghbazar,Dhaka just beside of Content Tree Limited. An associated 500-bed hospital is proposed.
The college offers a five-year course of study, approved by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC), leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Dhaka University. After passing the final professional examination, there is a compulsory one-year internship. The internship is a prerequisite for obtaining registration from the BMDC to practice medicine.In October 2014, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare capped admission and tuition fees at private medical colleges at 1,990,000 Bangladeshi taka (US$25,750 as of 2014) total for their five-year courses.
Student life at Dr. Sirajul Islam Medical College
Admission for Bangladeshis to the MBBS programmes at all medical colleges in Bangladesh (government and private) is conducted centrally by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). It administers a written multiple choice question exam simultaneously throughout the country. Candidates are admitted based primarily on their score on this test, although grades at Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) level also play a part. As of July 2014, the college is allowed to admit 70 students annually. When the 2014 admission deadline passed, 45% of the allowable annual intake remained unfilled.
Dr. Sirajul Islam Medical College offers hostel facilities to its students. The university has modern hostel accommodation with fully furnished rooms with all the necessary facilities. Indian food is also easily available at the hostel mess of the university. The rooms are offered on a twin sharing basis to the students of the same genders. The College gives students different opportunities to actively participate in various humanitarian services such as free blood donation and free medicine supply for poor patients, relief works during natural calamities such as cyclones, epidemics, floods, etc. The college believes in the holistic development of every student and encourages students to participate in various activities such as debates, sports events, and tournaments, student exchange programs, cultural activities, etc.
The living cost is incredibly less compared to other countries within the Asian Continent and additionally, the fee of medical faculty is incredibly reasonable and most of the medical colleges in Bangladesh are recognized by other countries’ medical authorities.
Hostel & Accommodation
- There are separate hostel facilities for both local and international students.
- To ensure the safety and security of students, especially girl students, special 24x7 security is provided to the hostels. The hostel is under the supervision of wardens.

Eligibility for Admission
Applicants must ensure that they fit in the following eligibility criteria to take admission to Dr.Sirajul Islam Medical College:
- The candidates should have the age of 17 and below 25 years old on or before the date in which the admission is being taken, or complete this age before 31st December of the admission year.
- The applicant should have scored at least 60% aggregate in all the above-mentioned subjects in 10+2 and 40% if the applicant falls under the reserved category.
- The applicant must have cleared the NEET exam as it is mandatory for students coming from India.
- The candidate must be a high-school graduate or he/she must hold an equivalent degree with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as subjects.
- The applicants must clear both the exams, IELTS, and TOEFL.

Students need to have the following documents for the admission process:
- The candidates must submit the correct filled application form in the office at the University of Dhaka.
- The candidates must submit the passing certificate
- SSC & HSC mark sheet must be submitted during MBBS admission time.
- Students must submit the Birth certificate for MBBS course admission.
- NEET report card & admit card must be submitted.
- The candidates should submit Transfer certificate/ leaving certificate from previous school or institution.
- The candidates must submit the migration certificate.
- The candidates must carry the invitation letter during admission time.
- A valid passport is required during admission time.
- The candidates must bring the copy of Identity proof document- Adhar card/pan card etc.
- The candidates must bring recent passport size photographs for the MBBS admission process.
- The candidates must bring the tuition fee payment receipt from the bank, after paying the first year MBBS course fees.
- The candidates must submit the Medical fitness certificate along with the HIV reports during MBBS admission time.
- Every candidate must go for COVID-19 screening test before taking MBBS admission at the University of Dhaka.
